Orhan Pamuk was born in 1952 in Istanbul. His full name is Ferit Orhan Pamuk. He grew up in a crowded family, in the rich district of Nişantaşı. He attended high school in Robert College in Istanbul. Since he was always painting, he thinks he will be an artist. After studying architecture in Istanbul Technical University for three years, he decided that he would not be an architect or a painter. After graduating in Architecture, Pamuk studied Journalism at Istanbul University. After the age of 23, he decided to become a writer and put all of his efforts aside and locked himself at home and gave himself up to write. His first novel esinde Cevdet Bey and His Sons İlk was published in 1982. The following year, he published his novel called ’Sessiz Ev’ (Silent House). In 1991, Pamuk won the “Prix de la découverte européene” with the French translation of this book. Orhan Pamuk first gained international fame with his novel ü Beyaz Kale lad (1985). After 1990, it has been translated into many languages, especially English. Aylin Türegün entered the world home in 1982. Orhan Pamuk, who went to America with his wife, was a New guest scholar New at Columbia University in New York between 1985-88. In 1991, his daughter Rüya was born. In 2006, Orhan Pamuk won the 2006 Nobel Prize for Literature and won the award of 1 million 360 thousand dollars.
